Evidence may include statements, correspondence, testimony, official documents and patterns of conduct. The other party is notified and given an opportunity to respond in writing. A lack of response does not necessarily prevent the process from continuing.
Outcome
Where valid grounds are established, the husband’s consent is not required. The religious outcome is an irrevocable separation (baynunah).
