General Service Fees
Initial Discussion
A brief fit call to confirm suitability and the appropriate next step. It does not include counselling or advice.
Ruqyah Initial Consultation
Private 30-minute telephone consultation, booked and paid in one step.
Full In-Person Ruqyah Session
Arranged only if appropriate after the initial consultation. Premises visits add return-journey travel from NE1 5JE at £0.75 per mile — there and back.
Child Certificate of Faith
For school or educational administrative purposes only. Non-school applications use the £250 standard route. Valid for one year from the date of issue.
Adult Certificate of Faith
For Marriage, Nikah or Talaq. The same £250 standard route also applies to non-school certificate requests. Valid for one year from the date of issue.
Certificate of Talaq
PDF certificate after document verification and a video call with the husband and two witnesses. UK hard copy: +£75. International delivery is quoted separately.
Standard Nikah
The same base fee for an in-person, hybrid or fully online ceremony. The full calculated fee is paid with the application.
Nikah Additions
- Central Mosque or Nali Mosque: +£100.
- Your own venue: £400 total, plus return-journey travel from NE1 5JE at £0.75 per mile — there and back.
- One ISCN witness: +£75; two ISCN witnesses: +£150.
- Imam acting as Wali: +£250.
- FCDO Apostille: +£150.
- Embassy legalisation: +£150.
Islamic Divorce Routes and Fees
The correct route is confirmed after an initial review. Published fees and any service-specific terms are shown below.
Khulu’
£350 starting fee + £150 casework credit
A wife-initiated release with its own religious conditions and process.
Harm-Based Divorce
£500 starting fee + £150 casework credit
An evidence-led application where harm or suffering is claimed and the relevant circumstances must be reviewed.
Faskh (Annulment)
An adjudication application seeking dissolution where valid grounds must be established.
Before You Pay
Faskh fee: the Faskh application fee is £750. It is one fee for the complete application and adjudication process and is not divided into separate casework credits or internal charges.
Outcome: fees pay for assessment and casework; they do not guarantee a ruling, certificate or particular outcome.
Additional work: if further work or cost is required beyond the published starting total, it will be explained before proceeding.
Civil position: these are religious processes and do not replace a UK civil divorce or independent legal advice.
Cancellation: the general cancellation and refund policy applies. Where work has already begun at the applicant’s request, ISCN may retain the reasonable fee for completed work and refund any remaining balance.

Delivery periods begin after the required information and payment have been received. A timeframe may be adjusted where further evidence, specialist input or clarification is required.

Core Fees, Cancellation and Refund Policy
This policy applies to all paid ISCN services, applications, appointments, packages and optional additions unless a service-specific schedule below states otherwise. A service-specific schedule supplements this policy and does not remove any statutory rights.
Core Policy
What the Fee Covers
Fees pay for the service, administration, reserved professional time, assessment, correspondence and any case-specific work described before payment. Payment does not guarantee a religious ruling, certificate, report, appointment outcome or any particular decision.
Statutory Cancellation Rights
Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights. Where the law provides a cancellation period for a service purchased online or at a distance:
- cancellation before the service begins will receive the refund required by law;
- ISCN will begin work during that period only where you have expressly requested an early start;
- if you then cancel, ISCN may deduct only a reasonable and proportionate amount for work already completed; and
- where the service has been completed in full following your express request and acknowledgement, the statutory cancellation right may no longer apply.
Before Work Begins
Outside any greater statutory entitlement, where ISCN has not begun substantive work, reserved an appointment or incurred a non-recoverable third-party cost, you will receive a full refund. Any deduction must relate to work actually completed or a cost actually incurred, and ISCN will explain the calculation in writing.
After Work Begins
Where substantive work has begun, ISCN will refund the unused balance after deducting the reasonable and proportionate value of work already completed, professional time already delivered or properly reserved under the relevant service schedule, and any disclosed non-recoverable third-party costs already incurred.
Completed Services
A service that has been fully delivered is not normally refundable. This includes a completed appointment, ceremony, report, decision or issued certificate. This does not affect your rights where a service was not provided with reasonable care and skill, was materially misdescribed or was not delivered as agreed.
Cancellation by ISCN
If ISCN cancels and cannot provide a suitable replacement, you will receive a full refund for the affected undelivered service. Any urgent or short-notice premium will be refunded if ISCN cannot provide the urgent service.
Third-Party Costs and Optional Additions
Charges for venues, travel, witnesses, legalisation, notarisation, postage, couriers or other third-party services are refundable until ISCN becomes committed to the cost. Once a third-party charge becomes non-recoverable, ISCN may deduct the amount actually incurred and will explain the reason in writing.
Appointments and Consultations
- Where no greater statutory right applies, a scheduled appointment cancelled at least 48 hours before its start is eligible for a refund of the unused appointment fee.
- Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the appointment, and missed appointments, are not normally refundable because the professional time has been reserved.
- A completed appointment is not refundable, subject to your statutory rights.
- If ISCN cancels, you will be offered a suitable replacement or a full refund for the affected appointment.
Multi-Session Packages
Unless different terms were confirmed before payment, any undelivered part of a package will be refunded after deducting the reasonable value of sessions already delivered, properly reserved sessions and any case-specific work already completed. A session cancelled within three days is normally eligible for a 50% refund of that session fee; a session cancelled within 24 hours is not normally refundable.
Nikah and Scheduled Ceremonies
- If cancellation follows application processing but takes place before the welcome meeting, the service fee is refunded less the £50 administration fee.
- If either party cancels after the welcome meeting, the remaining fee is refunded less the £50 consultation fee.
- No refund is normally available when cancellation occurs within 48 hours of the scheduled Nikah because the ceremony time has been reserved.
- Non-recoverable venue, travel or third-party costs may also be deducted where they have already been incurred.
Adjudication and Casework
This schedule applies to Khulu’, Faskh, harm-based divorce and other casework services. If no substantive work has started and no non-recoverable cost has been incurred, the full fee is refundable. Once work begins, any refund is the unused balance after a reasonable and proportionate deduction for work completed and costs incurred.
Substantive work includes reviewing an application, statement, document or evidence; preparing or issuing a notice; contacting a spouse or relevant party; arranging or conducting a case meeting; preparing case notes or a chronology; referring the matter for scholarly, specialist or Board consideration; or preparing a decision, report or certificate. An automated acknowledgement, payment verification or creation of a case reference alone does not constitute substantive work.
No refund is normally available after the case is completed or a final decision, report or certificate is issued, subject always to statutory rights.
Certificates and Legalisation
If verification, drafting or production has not begun and no third-party cost has been incurred, the full fee is refundable. Once work begins, ISCN may deduct the reasonable value of completed work. Notarisation, legalisation, apostille, postage and courier charges remain refundable only until ISCN becomes committed to those costs. An issued certificate is not normally refundable, subject to statutory rights and correction of any error attributable to ISCN.
Research, Fatwa and Written Reports
If research, review or drafting has not begun and no non-recoverable cost has been incurred, the full fee is refundable. Once work begins, ISCN will deduct the reasonable and proportionate value of research, review, consultation, specialist input and drafting already completed. A completed and delivered report or written opinion is not normally refundable, subject to statutory rights.
Donations
A genuine donation is not payment for a service and does not purchase priority, casework or a particular outcome. If a payment was made in error or was wrongly described as a donation, contact ISCN promptly so the circumstances can be reviewed.
How to Cancel, Reschedule or Request a Refund
Notify ISCN clearly by email at salam@theislamicshariacouncil.org.uk or by message to the authorised ISCN WhatsApp number, 07732 155115. Include your name, service and case or booking reference. The time your message is received is used to calculate the notice period.
ISCN will review the relevant booking, payment and case activity and explain in writing whether work had begun, what had been completed or reserved, any third-party cost incurred, the amount deducted and the amount being refunded. Statutory refunds will be processed within the legally required period. Other approved refunds will normally be returned to the original payment method within 14 calendar days of the decision.
This policy does not affect any statutory rights or remedies available to you.
